About Jamille

I am a visual artist living in Maryland and working throughout the DMV as well as in my home state of North Carolina. In my practice, I like am more interested in questions than in the medium and it is often the exploration that leads to the medium rather than the other way around. I am interested in stories of ecological community, with a lot of recent work based on the shifting forests and marshes of the East coastlines. I love exploring the realization that all things are edgeless, especially time and life itself. My work has included creative explorations in sculpture, video, photography, painting, dance, choreography, music, event creation, & collaboration.

I have a Master of Fine Arts from George Washington University as well as a Masters of Education in New Media and Global Education from Appalachian State University. Having studied Anthropology and Dance Studies as an Undergraduate those fields continue to influence my practice. I also find teaching to be a big part of my artist life and I am currently teaching Media, Photography, and other Arts courses at George Washington University, Washington DC, and Appalachian State, Boone, NC (remotely). I also offer freelance services to businesses, non-profits, universities, craft schools, artists, and grant applicants with 9+ years of experience.
